Why this matters
Drainage claims are now a meaningful share of Catalyst's work — and the technical bar is high. The wrong answer on responsibility, the wrong gradient on a replacement field, or the wrong CIPP wall thickness can turn a routine claim into a complaint, a regulatory breach, or a liability dispute. This curriculum gives every handler the same baseline: the WRc rules, the British Standards behind them, and a reliable way to apply them to a real instruction.
- Determine in under a minute whether a drainage problem is a private or public-sewer responsibility
- Read a CCTV survey and assign a defect a WRc condition grade A / B / C
- Pick the right repair technique — patch, CIPP, excavate or pipe-burst — and challenge a contractor's spec
- Audit an off-mains tank or drainage field installation against current Building Regulations + General Binding Rules
- Spot the questions you should be asking when a claim doesn't quite add up
The Curriculum
Modules are designed to be done in order — each one builds on the last. Each ends with a knowledge check; you need 80% to unlock the next module. Capstone certification covers all six modules.
Watch the narrated video versions
Each module is also available as a narrated video (UK English neural voice). Use these for self-paced learning, replay, or LMS embedding. Total ~30 minutes of content.
Final Certification
After all six modules, take the final certification — 30 questions across all topics, randomised order, 80% to pass. Successful candidates can download a personalised completion certificate.

- Start with Module 1. Even if you've worked drainage for years, the WRc terminology is precise — calibrate first.
- Read each module section before the quiz. The interactive elements (flip cards, decision trees, hotspots) are part of the learning, not decoration.
- Aim for 80% on every quiz. If you score below, review the section and retake — the system tracks your best score.
- Complete the capstone case study (Module 6) before sitting the final certification.
- Download your certificate when you pass — print or save as PDF.
