Drainage Claims Mastery — from instruction to settlement

Six interactive modules + capstone certification, built around the WRc Drain Repair Book (4th edition). Designed for Catalyst handlers, surveyors and claims teams. You'll learn ownership rules, defect classification, repair specifications, off-mains treatment, tree roots, and how to apply all of it on a live claim.

Why this matters

Drainage claims are now a meaningful share of Catalyst's work — and the technical bar is high. The wrong answer on responsibility, the wrong gradient on a replacement field, or the wrong CIPP wall thickness can turn a routine claim into a complaint, a regulatory breach, or a liability dispute. This curriculum gives every handler the same baseline: the WRc rules, the British Standards behind them, and a reliable way to apply them to a real instruction.

📘 What you'll be able to do
  • Determine in under a minute whether a drainage problem is a private or public-sewer responsibility
  • Read a CCTV survey and assign a defect a WRc condition grade A / B / C
  • Pick the right repair technique — patch, CIPP, excavate or pipe-burst — and challenge a contractor's spec
  • Audit an off-mains tank or drainage field installation against current Building Regulations + General Binding Rules
  • Spot the questions you should be asking when a claim doesn't quite add up

How to use this portal

  1. Start with Module 1. Even if you've worked drainage for years, the WRc terminology is precise — calibrate first.
  2. Read each module section before the quiz. The interactive elements (flip cards, decision trees, hotspots) are part of the learning, not decoration.
  3. Aim for 80% on every quiz. If you score below, review the section and retake — the system tracks your best score.
  4. Complete the capstone case study (Module 6) before sitting the final certification.
  5. Download your certificate when you pass — print or save as PDF.
